In the year 2060 AD there lived a holy monk who had been in secluded meditation for many years and had achieved enlightenment. He developed certain powers and multitudes used to come and see him and he started attracting disciples.

After a few years the multitudes dwindled. The monk learned that ordinary people, sinners, thieves, prostitutes and murderers were getting enlightened at Vasan Brain Care. The monk seethed with anger and proclaimed "Vasan Brain Care concept is simply bullishit."

But the multitude had developed their own level of compassion. They collected funds on behalf of the monk, bound him and had the doctor perform the procedure on him against his will. As he was carried up towards the operating table the monk spat and cursed those who forced him, so great was his anger. But as the multitude was enlightened his curses did not affect them at all.

The procedure finished, the monk realized that what he had hitherto experienced was a mere shadow of what he was experiencing now. And he too joined the multitude and partook in their joy.

babboo: I am not saying that this "ultimate experience" is not great, but that we are looking at the wrong place for it. Ramakrishna could not put it into words because it can`t be put into words. It is below the level of words. This is the state where are babies and animals exist.

But an adult human being, who is able to penetrate through the muck of thought into that basic "ground" level, his brain, being much more developed, can result in a powerful and potentially useful state where he is able to use his perception and even his thoughts to tap the universal energy. This explains the healing and other powers of the mystics.

We have a built-in resistance against anything that promises such a state by any other intervention except by "divine grace." Come to think of it, why seperate physical world from spiritual world? It is all the same, isn`t it? Then why can`t science attempt in its own humble way to broom away the dirt and rogue neural connections that prevent us from achieving our potential? Once science has done its bit, it will have to retreat to background. Why? Because the very method of science is divisive. I mean it has to divide and subdivide in order to arrive at a semblence of integration. So I have no illusion that science will be a substitute for consciousness. It will only serve as a tool which makes enlightenment available to "aam aadmi."

Monks and nuns revolt at such an idea. Why should we?
