Women in Indian politics can be divided into two groups:1.The Pallu group(with the families ties): Sonia Gandhi, Vasundhara Raje Scindhia, Amma, Rabri Devi 2. Hysterical group: Mamta, Mayawati, Sushma Swaraj, Uma Bharti (Now, this is a broad generalization and I am sure you can find some women leaders who don’t belong to any of these groups. Also, it is not fair to say that they have no other qualification except belonging to these particular groups. There is also frequent inter-lapping between the two groups)
Generally, the Pallu group commands much more ”respect” and has a much better chance of being in power. The Hysterical women on the other hand are cynically used as rabble rousers at best or at worst provide entertainment to the rest of the country . Remember Sushma Swaraj’s threat to shave off her head if Sonia became the PM?
Conversely, some like Mamta Banerjee are never able to outgrow their rebel image and have become more or less a relic in the changed political situation. The most interesting thing is that the Pallu group is no pushover. In fact, they demand and command supreme political power and in their intolerance for dissent behave worse than any despot–remember Emergency?
HAAAAAAAAAAAA.. read this the bahu politicians of India
But the real source of their power is the Pallu–they keep the pretense of being the bahu/daughter/mother, emotionally blackmail voters, and exploit their womanhood to the hilt. Almost all of Sonia Gandhi’s political renunciations shenanigans have been built on the platform of being the wronged Indian bahu.
It is an indicator of the inherent hypocrisy in Indian society where we are all ready to prostate before a bahu, hail her as the next Devi as long as she remembers the pallu on her head!
So Ghanshyam give us a woman of substance a woman who will not wear a saree in every political meet... we want women in pants, minis and selwars storming the arena.. a woman like Benazir in charisma maybe or even a Hillary
Give us such women and a 50% representation of ONLY such women in politics
So dear Ghanshyam
There is an urgent need for women of substance in Indian politics– Women who don’t come from a politically well-connected family nor mistake lung power and hysteria as an argument. Till then, we can’t really call Indian politics inclusive. And I suspect, neither can we hope for India to truly develop.
yes you are right, even president prathibha patil is with pallu group. hysterical group is also called fire brand group... even Renuka chowdary is hysterical/fire brand lady..
Pratibha irritates me no end.. all her attention is on the pallu on her head, she is adjusting it no end.. someone should file a PIL against this habit of her`s ...gosh i want to give her a pant and shirt so she can give attention to what matters
But i do have great regard and admiration for Renuka Chowdhury and Jayanthi Natarajan
The way Renuka said PUB BHARO i loved it.. LOL... they should be asked to command not this pallu group
They have brought India to the state it it with their holy pallus and hypocrisy.
RN,
yes your observation on Pratibha is good. I feel Jayanthi natarajan is a matured politician.she is decent in her approach rather than arrogant renuka...
the same can be said in a decent manner.. renuka is double fire brand...
Those apsaras who were part of the Ram Rajya or the Krishna Rajya did none of this pallu gimmicks.... except an odd Kunti none of these women put their femine charms on the back burner coz its not done in politics... Their attire stated.. THIS IS ME A WOMAN WITH ALL MY CHARMS NOW WANTING TO TRY POLITICS.
Or if these women politicians wear a saree to a political meet they should wear it like Madhuri in Hum Apke Hain Kaun
If their political desires can be so overwhelming would their other desires be any less... if they dont wear their saree like a model then they are not to be allowed on the stage....HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Because of the Chulha.. working before the chulha they needed an instant tongs whcih their pallu provided and instant napkin to wipe the sweat which the pallu provided and the jewllery that is worn but hidden with pallus on heads means slavery... jewellery if its worn is meant to be shown the way the apsaras wore and danced in front of vishwamitra... wear jewellery and then ghunghat? What use.. they should be asked to buy GOLD ETFs adn not jewellery.
Yep pub bgaro was great and it inspired school children to take drugs... In fact so rampant it has become that in a single day in Bangalore 50 kids were caught taking drugs... Cheers... to Renuka and her lone supporter Radhika... Hmmm... r u her supporter on this board only because both ur names rhyme while ending? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha... ROFL...
Anybody who tries to impinge on a woman`s freedom should be sent packing to the nether skies... if u want you may go along with Ram sena to the nether skies and allow us our breathing space.
