Why kannadigas will not have anyother party except the BJP... what the congress could not do for the nation, Bangalore`s Yedi has done for its citizens
Rain Water Harvesting Mandatory for New building
From November 1 rain water harvesting will be mandatory for new buildings. The recent amendment of the BWSSB Act that’s made rain water harvesting mandatory for new and bigger old buildings could bring about a change. Provided, citizens understand the law, get the system installed and also trained in handling it.
People need professional help to design a system complying with the law. They also need trained plumbers and masons as well as money to invest in the structure. Some plumbers and masons well versed in this are listed on the BWSSB website.
Rain water if captured can generate water equivalent to 3000 MLD, almost double the current demand. It can also reduce the massive problem of flooding in Bangalore to a great extent, say experts.Depending on design, orientation and catchment area of the house, you could pay between Rs 8,000 and Rs 75,000 to set up the system.
If you don’t have an RWH unit, your water and sanitary connections could be cut. However, there are rewards for installing one. After an assessment by the BWSSB in January 2010, five houses will be selected and rewarded Rs 10,000 each.
I am suprised at this Rain-water-harvesting scenario as something new and great in Bangalore Bcos its been there in kerala for All buildings since last 8yrs
RN thats a sweeping comment and incorrect too,In delhi all new multi storey complex do harvest Rain water and its mandatory so is the need for Solar Water heaters for all large Hotels.
The country saw for themselves what was enacted during last 15 days, representatives missing from consituencies and no one co-ordination of flood relief, is this polity worth being proud off?
Dear radhika nandlal, Rain water harvesting system is extreemly good step if implemented correctly. I have installed the system in my house in Greater Noida where it is mandatory for all houses with a plot size of 125sq mtrs and it is functioning well. One needs to clean the water collection pit at regular intervas and ensure that no conemenated water goes inside. Thereare no great technology required to install the system. It is asimple system to install and boring party along with a mason & plumber. Only roof water collection should be allowed in the water harvestors. People must cooperate with the Govt whether it is BJP or Congress. It is good system to be installed in all our cities and townd. Delhi Govt has launched this programme many years back and even in Channai it is mandatory to install the system.
This is news to me that all cities have mandatory rain water harvesting but i dint hear one from my family or friends`circle talk about it. How strange. I never heard a whisper about it. Now lify says its a routine in kerala and you say its customary in NOIDA. lol.. what to make of this.. Then why so much of water problems in cities? So how effective is RWH. Does it meet all your water requirements
I think RWH and solar power should be made mandatory. THe govt is sitting over important issues. Its like SEBI catching shankar sharma for buying and sellign at the same price while it allows companies like Teledata to go scott free. LOL... oh god dear god what do with regulatory authorities like GOI or SEBI?
In Chennai and tamil nadu cities, about 5 years ago, during her regime, Jayalalitha made rain water harvesting arrangement compulsory. No plan for new construction will be approved unless satisfactory RWH provision is in built. Even for existing buildings, it was made compulsory - they were given time to make the provision and it was enforced.
Dear rn, RWH system in itself can not solve all our water problems but imperative of our present day is to charge the underground as natural ways to recharge U/G can not compensate withdrawal of water. Many cities and state Govts have already adopted as a policy to make it mandatory to install water harvesting systems but as usual implementation is tardy.
I had taken up this issue some time back on MMB regards water harvesting and once again urge all our citizens to cooperate with state Govt to implement the project.
In my Greater Noida house I have installed water harvesting system for a roof top measuring 1650 sq feet and some hard standing area for car park. Water collected goes underground. The system had cost me Rs 26000 and I need to clean water collection tank before the onset of monsoons and one additional cleaning during the year.
Do install water harvesting system in your house and tell all of us about your first hand experience. Regards.
Nothing compulsory in Kerala, but most of the modern condominiums in our cities here, the builders do provide the rainwater harvesting facility. So, do we give credit to Marxists or Congress or do we have to vote for the Builders themselves next time.
Those who are on the chair are supposed to do something good for the voters. If not, you know what will happen when they stand for election next time. Glad to hear at least one good thing from YEDI, rather than sobbing in front of TV Cameras...lol..
