What is the correlation between face value, listing Group (A/B/...), and current value of a stock ? What makes a stock overperform (is it folly demand rally or more ...)?

FV : TCS is Rs 1, PRICOL is Rs. 1 ( one) Shanti gears is also rs 1. Suppose you had IPO allotment in OIL @ 1150. Its face value is Rs 10 and rest premium.. Later if it spit into 5.. you will get double up your holdings. While Current value being CMP. Upto this is very simple.

Now, some times people think that stock is available at low cost.
TCS FV 1 and CMP Rs 5 while suppose ABC @250 and FV 10 means ABV is 2500.

We normally check EPS and P/E....
few stocks having EPS good but may have P/E also high. We shall compare with peers.
before buying..

Comparision shall be amongst same Industry. Like...
in AUTO ANCILLARIES Ind...

Exide having P/E abround 24.4 while Halonix 46.9 and Munjal Auto 5.4
If other params are attractive, we can buy Munjal Auto instead of peers having high P/E.

This is just an example . Other data like Sales, profit , CAGR, Future plans, management, Brand name etc etc along with track recod of promoters be taken into note.
