The husband was clearing the old papers when he came across an old letter written by his wife many years ago. At that time, she was staying with her parents while he was searching for a house in the city where he worked. Describing how lonely she felt, she wrote about her readiness to join him right away, even if it meant that they had to live in the worst of the circumstances.
‘Didn’t Sita live with Rama in the Forest?’ she asked. ’What difference is there between you and Rama?’.
After so many years when he saw this letter he felt very happy and handed over the letter to his wife and asked her if she felt the same way now also.
“Almost” she said, making a few marks on the letter before returning it. Now the last line read: ‘What a difference is there between you and Rama?’

===British Prima Minister Clement Atlee’s personal modesty was of a degree that can only be regarded as eccentric. One of the many well-attested anecdotes concerned Sir. John Russell, who became British ambassador to Spain.
In 1948 the young Russell working in Whitehall as a junior official was called to a meeting at No.10. After the meeting as the officials started to leave, Russell heard his name called and saw the Prime Minister beckoning to him. ‘Are you the son of Tommy Russell, the Pasha whom I knew in school at Haileybury?” asked the Prime Minister. “Yes,” Said Russell. Said the Prima Minister; “I was his fag. He was very nice to me. Remember me to him.”Russell prepared to leave. The name is Attlee”. he added.

=====When President Gamal Abdul Nasser of the United Arab Republic (Egypt) visited New Delhi for a mini non-alligned conference in October 1966, he was invited for a reception by the Delhi Corporation.
===Accompanied by Prime Minsiter Indira Gandhi, President Nasser arrived at the reception. As they were about to sit down, the navel band began to play the Egyptian national anthem. All including the Prime Minister, stood up, but the President remained seated. Later on, it came to know that the band had played the national anthem of King Farooq`s Egypt.
A furious Prime Minsiter wanted to sack, on the spoat, all those responsilble for the diplomatic gaffe and even the Indian Ambassodor to Cairo expected instant dismissal. But president Nasser saved evrybody. `Madom, do not wory,` he told the Prime Minister. `When I visited India during your father`s time in 1956 also they played the same Ntional anthem for me.`

====Former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, after his graduation in 1917, applied to join the provincial civil service. Borrowing clothes from a friend (he did not have any good ones) Desai appeared before the interview board consisting of three Government secretaries, all Englishmen. At the end of the interview he was asked, ‘’Well young man, how would you feel if you do not get the job?’’ ‘‘Who knows, I may get something better.’’ Desai replied promptly.
--Though the post went to someone else, the secretaries who were impressed with Desai’s answer created an additional post just to accommodate him.

====Sir. M. Visvesvarayya, famous Engineer turned former Dewan of Mysore in the pre-independent days, had a legendary reputation for integrity. Once Sir. Visvesvarayya had to stay overnight in a remote village that had no electricity. A visitor, who came to see him late in the evening, noticed that the Dewan used two sets of candles. After going through some papers, he extinguished one set of candles, lit the other and began reading again. When asked the reason for this Sir. Visvesvarayya replied: ‘When I am reading official documents I use candles bought by Government money. But for my own work I use my own candles.’

Dhirubhai Ambani’s Pipe Dream.

==In 1977 when Reliance Industries came up with its First public Issue, as part of public relations exercise, Dhirubhai Ambani took a Group of local investors to his plant in Ahmedabad to appraise them of the working and profitability of the plant he envisages to construct. The investors were not very much impressed by the technology and increased productivity as explained to them by Ambani as they were mostly laymen in the subject. Realizing that they only understand the language of profit he drew their attention to a set of pipes and said, ‘You see, I put Rs. ONE Crore through this pipe at this end and it will come out as Rs. FIVE Crore through other pipes. So you guys put the money here and
Take away the money from there’.
The vision behind those pipes was no pipe dream. When the IPO was launched over 60000 people subscribed for it. It was the beginning of Dhirubhai Ambani’s dream of selling his dreams to millions or ordinary investors in this country. His company has made millionaires of many of those who reposed faith in him 25 years age and since then.
It also got the average Indian including the farmers, thinking of parking his money in stock markets rather than in Public sector Banks. In that sense Dhirubhai is the pioneer in developing an equity culture in this country. ‘He always kept the promise of giving his investors high returns’ his former associate recollects.
But Dhirubhai’s biggest contribution is perhaps his vision that Indian companies can compete successfully, for investment and market share, in world markets. Raising finance globally was something he did at a time when India did not have the image it has today. The image of this country today is to some extent, we should say is his contribution.

====God asked St. Peter to do some refurbishing of the Pearly Gates, and the Saint was interviewing applicants for the job.’ I am a carpenter’ ’said the first man. ‘I could repair those tottering old gates for Five Hundred Dollars.’
‘I will think it over and get back to you,’ was the reply.
The second fellow said. ‘ I am an electrician, and I know just what you need to brighten up those gates – flashing neon lights. All it will cost you is Five Thousand dollars.’
St. Peter sighed. ‘That is kind of high; I will get back to you.’
Then the Saint spoke to the third man. ‘I am a contractor,’ the fellow said, ‘and I will mend your gates for Twenty Thousand, Five Hundred dollars.’
WHAT???!!! Yelled the saint, ‘Twenty thousand five hundred dollars.???’
‘Sure,’ replied the contractor. ‘That is Ten Thousand for you, ten thousand for me and Five Hundred for the carpenter to get the job done.’

Here are some more..

When Mr.Kamraj was the CM of TN,he visited his mother in his native place Virudunagar. There he was surprised to see a water pipe connection to the bathroom. When he came to know it was a gesture by the local municipality,he got wild and had it removed.

When he passed away on 2/10/75,he had about Rs.140 in cash in one of his shirt pockets.NOTHING MORE ANYWHERE

Mr.Kakkan who served as a home minister in Kamraj Govt, used to travel by bus after he retired. When he took ill,he was in the general ward of GH that too on the floor and on knowing this, the then CM Mr.MGR ordered for a special ward for him where he passed away peacefully

The first thing the then FM Mr.MMS did after devaluating rupee in 1992 was to deposit the gain he accrued (for his paltry USD holdings in a NRE acct)to PM`s relief fund.

One of the ex UN senior executives shared thus:
I was serving UNICEF and was posted in Nairobi. As a part of our health prog.we used to subsidise all African families @usd 25/child /month.A poor farmer in a remote village who used to claim USD 100 every month, for his four children, sent me a letter one day stating that since one of his children had passed away a week ago,usd 25 may be cut from the next payment!
I was stunned beyond words.I knew what IS honesty from then on.

Dear googol

Coming to our profession, if honesty can be shown in some form, my MMB Id will continue to survive for all the times to come and will be determined to weed out the menace of justice-eating "termite" from at least one home out of the 50 "iconic-symobls" of Nifty.
