This is a private deal between two private entities
unlike AIR INDIA. No need or requirement of a
guarantee.

They should handle their affairs themselves

Etihad and Jet are both corporate entities and undertaking the deal purely for commercial purposes. I am sure Etihad has done its paperwork underlying the stake purchase and understands the risks and rewards from the transactions. Govt. of India does not benefit in any way from this deal. Etihad is the one benefiting by way of increased traffic on its code shared flights with Jet. Then why should GOI give assurance. I am sure all other tax-payers will also agree to this view.
