Diesel Car buyer knows that the rise in diesel prices will be much less as it effects entire country and price rise exceeding few rupees will be great concern to general price rise hence dieselcar advantage remain until soe duty hike on these cars.

In view of the advantages of better mileage, low cost and mixability etc.,diesel would continue to have advantages over petrol and small shoots of price rise would not matter.

Yes. Diesel cars will maintain their advantage as their is still a considerable gap in diesel and petrol prices. secondly I believe the private SUVs should be charged diesel at a market rate.

1)Already Diesel Car price is atleast 15-20% more than its petrol counter part.
2) Diesel Car`s tyre lifetime is less than its petrol counterpart
3) Oil needs to be changed more frequently compared to its petrol counterpart and price of OIL is also booming
4) maintenance costs is more for diesel

As of now for the next one year or so till the time diesel prices catch up with market rates they would continue to enjoy their advantage over petrol cars but after that their edge would be nullified.

Diesel vehicles cost more at the outset and they are costly maintenance wise too in the long run hence i see petrol cars regaining lost ground by the end of the year, this if the Govt sticks to this partial deregulation policy.
