Yes. Most of the PSU shall be merged or they shall not be allowed to open banches in the same locality ( 10 KMS range ) . This saves lot of money of the banks, viz., Employees cost, establishment cost etc. This limit leads to opening of new branches in new ares, in turn benefits the public.

This has been the rheotic of the FM. but it never happened. Small and beautiful is the best. Creating big corporations and misusing them (like LIC) is governments ploy. If it happens it should be professionally managed. Other wise it is bound to doom.

THE VALUE OF ANY BANK DEPENDS ON GDP OF THE COUNTRY AND ITS MULTINATIONAL PRESENCE. EVEN IF U MERGE ALL SCHEDULED BANKS, NATIONALISED BANKS, PVT BANKS, CO OP BANKS, RRBS, EVEN THEN WE DO NOT MEASURE UP TO TOP 10. TO IMPROVE THE BUSINESS OF THE BANKS, BRING IN THE PARALLEL MONEY TO MAIN STREAM AND IMPROVE CONDITIONS FOR HIGHER GDP THE SIZE AND STRENGTH WILL MOVE UP. FM IS SIMPLY BANKING ON THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE NATION. JAGADISH P M
