I think biases appear too clearly in this post.
You need to think beyond your liking of MMS for a bit and think beyond assuming that all are like him and his Madam.

No two humans are same and hence no two parties will be same either.

For a change focus on facts not hypothesis.

CAG empowered to comment on efficiency of expenditure: SC

The apex court said that the CAG is no `munimji` (accountant) to file only balancesheet of accounts.

This is a better ruling, the previous one regarding natural resources will serve as an excuse to favoritism and eventual corruption.

A bod like SC can not ignore the fact that our policy makers are corrupt and in that context to rule out auctions, though criteria of bids can be multi-fold not just money, will only pave way to bigger and more authorized scams if i may say so.

Its like saying i expect the corrupt to follow law and hence i say auctions may not be only way , other ways can be used as long as there is no wrong doing.

Who is going to prevent wrong doings ? No answer to that in the judgment ? The SC can punish the guilty but has no means to prevent wrong doings unless the process is carried out under its watch which obviously will be few and far between in special cases due to pending legal issues if any. Otherwise it will be a free for all as it is right now, so in that context im not sure how the ruling does anything to clarify much.

Im glad the SC has clarified the building mis-conception among many people on the board also on wether CAG is allowed to scrutinize accounts beyond the usual credit debit and so on and it most certainly is and that has been re-iterated and thats gr8. This is a slap to Mr Singh and Mr Chiddu and Mr Sibbal who have directly indirectly questioned the CAG`s powers by saying policy is not their biz to comment on and so on. But what to expect from a PM who once said the same to SC also that policy is not theirs to decide.

Isnt that exactly why people often elect alternating Governments in many places.
In that context we are a dumb lot then coz we provide infinite power to one family and expect them not to loot us.

Its like the Cat wont drink milk placed in front of it. Even kids know thats not going to happen.

So best is for us to have two large parties alternatively chosen to power so they can do good work and not be complacent about power, just as the NDA did because it had been to power after long and wanted a good record. But then our very innocent and honest society loves thugs more than anything else and it has been proven so very often in our history.

Any party/group that has remained in power for a long time has always become corrupt. Example: the Church and the aristocracy in mideaval Europe, Communism in Soviet Union and China, military rule in Burma, Hinduism for many centuries (untouchability), Islamic clerics in modern Muslim countries, Congress party in power, etc.

The name may be different, but the people who seek power are similar. BJP won`t be different when they are in power for some time.

Our module of democracy needs a lot of change.
Else the country will be eaten up by dogs eventually. Not that it is not already.
Drastic measures ? Sure im all for it, but do i as a Citizen have any value whatsoever to bring drastic changes. when the only potential source i may have to put across my views is the Media which is bought out by the ruling Party and if i choose to talk i shall have to pay above what they do..

Social media is one way but that too is not easy and is soon to be filtered.

Its not that easy to give it a try but then one cant stop trying. Hopefully i wont miss out on opportunities to bring a change if they come my way.

But mind you a large majority are happy this way and hence a drastic change cant happen as it requires overwhelming public support in a country of our size.

Dear Jai

Am telling U that unless the module of our democracy s changed it will be like neva ending story...remember that....so its useless unless drastic measures are taken.....any one who comes to power the story wont change....so start workin for that change...or have to suffer infinitely till eternity ... remeber that too...

Special Status drama.
Can this be not taken up in the Courts as a statement inflammatory in nature and going against the endeavor of equality ?

Can this not be taken up as a potential separatist mindset too.

It all depends on how one looks at it. In the end there is nothing like INDIA except as a notion in our minds and in some texts.

Q:
The makers of the Constitution did debate the applicability of a presidential system for India but in the end decided against it because of the level of illiteracy of the people, linguistic divergence etc. of the country.
UQ:

Were the makers of Constitution so dumb to believe illiteracy plays a part in electing President but not MP`s or does linguistic divergence not form a factor in formation of a Government with 50% majority seats ?

Did they not know illiteracy is often led into more crimes and hence often needs a more strict legal system than the one we seem to have ?

Lets face it despite the huge time taken to make the Constitution and huge text that it is, it is actually worth nothing much in our lives partly because it makes no sense partly because it gave us options to not care about it.

Essentially despite all the credit given to makers of Constitution and so on, which btw is often said to be copy pastes from various sources, it really is no masterpiece and needs urgent editing and fine tuning.

People want corruption and hence they get it.
That is why people want the Congress more than BJP despite all the scams and near dictator attitude.

Congress represents the evils prevalent within our society and hence is in power.

But that in no way forms a justification for being wrong because the country and its morals have been corrupted to a large extent. There is a feedback loop as a Corrupt Government promotes corrupt earnings and those earning corrupt money promote a corrupt government (media and others) . One has to see how this feedback loop can be stopped.

One possible way of stopping this deadly cycle is to eliminate corruption in the judiciary. That alone will solve majority of your problems as the fear of law will prevent most of the problems we see..

Another possible solution is to deport Congress to Italy. That will solve 50% of our problem.

Another solution is outsource CBI to some private Firm Non-Indian coz thats again Congressi.

Solutions are many, sadly none of us want it coz it hurts our pockets just as much as theirs.

Who in the world of equity can not like Crony capitalism when their pockets get filled too if corrupt companies reap benefits. There is a conflict of interest and hence discussing morals and ethics of corporates who are money laundering agents/bosses of Political parties makes no sense on a forum where stocks are involved. The inevitable bias shall stay.

Coming to the BJP, well it has been in power in many states by now and barring Karnataka where has it come up with big scams ? I think you need to adopt a rational view and though BJP is no angel and to that even BJP leaders will admit off camera in no way can it b said that BJP and Congress are comparable in their level or desire of corruption.

if this government wants to allocate the precious natural resources of this country, why not a common man be considered to run the certain block and not to give any natural resources to any politician or corporate houses. Everyone knows who is being benefitting from this govt planning.

Any natural resource is a public asset and any commercial exploitation must be shared by all members of public who are also stakeholders,. If Auction is the best method of garnering more money then it is the best route . In the absence of Exchanges Auction would be the best method or Can we follow Book-building method logic from capital markets?

Supreme Court did reply but vaguely I will say, because it has also been said that there should be no dole outs for free. Though I will say that auction is a good route to maximize returns, but then to in cases where the auction is not there the allotment in some other manner should be shown on the website of the ministry before allotment letter is issued, but, these decisions should best be left to our politicians otherwise we will be charged with indulging in politics.

e-auction may be better and trustworthy. Natural resources should not be allocated as has been done so far. A better way should be found by the Government and this work should not be left to the political parties who will say that whatever they do is for the people and not for themselves.
